Mandan's Gift to North Mandan Homeowners

Please enjoy for the next 15 years!

It is sad when your government can take a loan, slap your home on as

collateral and make you acquire a debt for 15 years and only if you can inspire the rest in the neighborhood to help you fight it, the debt is yours. SAD! SAD! Some will be 80 years old before they can pay it back and it just obligated them to $100 or more a month or they could lose their home. Property tax law is written by the state and dictated how, when to assess, the Locals carry it out because it is the only taxation method other than fees and sales tax they can carry out. Last night June 19th (Juneteenth) in Mandan was the perfect example, 300 people protested spending $10 million adding to the almost $100 million dollars in debt. The commission decided the 30% affected was not a sufficient protest, the other 21% which would have made a majority must have not read the notice or maybe they were still at work at 5:30pm. Let's see if the Legislature will bully the less than majority vote on M2 and spend as they please.

School Board Meeting September 4, 2012 Mandan City Hall

Budget meeting September 4,2012 7:30pm Mandan City Hall.

The school and state need to stop calling this property tax relief; it certainly does not appear to be real property tax relief. Mandan School district projects it will collect $7,547,199 in property taxes, the state projected property tax relief for the Mandan District is $4,950,000 which is 66% of the tax collected, but instead of property tax owners receiving a reduction in their property tax of 66%,even 33% or even 15%, they are being offered a 9 mill reduction in property tax which is about $675,000 or about a 9% reduction in their property tax.  There is something seriously wrong with this property tax relief.  Is it just a cover up to grow our school budgets?

Wal-Mart

Property Tax Exemption Application Page 3

Really? Mandan would be the first entity in North Dakota to grant a property tax exemption to Wal-Mart

They checked NO to this question:Has the project operator or any officers of the project received any prior property tax incentives?
